Ordon 1: Twitter Following and Followers

This ordon is to determine the relationship between the people or groups you are following and the groups or people following you on twitter.

Big Ideas machine on Twitter will increase the number of people or groups we follow on twitter and observe the change in the number of people following us.We will conduct this ordon for the next two weeks, and infer from the experiment.Follow us and find out.

(We are following groups or people who are of genuine interest to us.We will continue to follow them after the end of this Ordon.)

Our Observations

14 May : Though it may seem that the number of followers has remained unchanged, some of our followers decided to no longer follow us.Though the reasons are best known to them, We had not taken this into account in our assumption.Though we sincerely apologize for anything that may have upset them, we are merely conucting this ordon to understand the circular chains cross linking in Twitter generates.We do wish you would reconsider and continue to follow us.

15 May : Observing an early trend emerging, however some increases should also be attributed to our Merits.

16 May : We twisted the ordon around a bit and decided not to add any followings.But we still managed to get some new followers.It may partly be oriented to exogenous factors but to some degree also contributed by a multiplier effect which seems to have kicked in the middle of this ordon.Keep watching for some interesting finds to follow.

17 May : The weekend and iDraw release have put brakes on our search for interesting profiles to follow.But the numbers seem to be up.Marginal followers have been dropping out at frequent intervals giving rise to alternate short term trends.The constant 'c' will denote the exogenous factors that add to increase in followers.Does it seem greek ? wait for the final trend and and English (non techo) version of the analysis.

19 Mayased on the current trend, we have discovered the following to be a fairly accurate relationship between twitter followers and Twitter following

tFr = Fx(tFo + 5a - 2b + 4M)

tFr is the Number of Twitterers following you tFo is the Number of Twitterers you are following a is the number of tFollowers as a result of the content posted by you on twitter b is the number of tFollowers which stop following you sporadically M is an unknown multiplier effect that kicks into effect when your activity rate increases.

For example if you post many tweets everyday or add more followers periodically, the multiplier mode kicks in ,else it becomes dormant.It works on several speeds (M ranges from 1 to 5 dependeng on activity)

Prediction for tomorrow tFr = 16+ 3 + 4 = 23.Therefore, if we follow 16, we will be followed by 23 on the 20th of May 2009.Lets see if that is the case.

20 May : We predicted 23 but the actual followers were 32 which was a jump of 52% in one day.We assumed the multiplier to be 1 M, but it may have actually reached warp speed 3 adding to 12 extra followers.We have nearly reached the target follower limit (35) with nearly half as much as following.We are holding the predictions for tomorrow, as we would like to understand the Ordon better at this stage.Some inferences to follow.Keep listening and enjoying
